Increasing the number of Windows sockets or ports
To resolve connection errors with an Oracle Essbase Server, increase the number of sockets or ports on the Microsoft Windows operating system that are available for program use by adding two entries in Microsoft Registry Editor.
Important: Use Microsoft Registry Editor at your own risk. Incorrect use may cause problems that require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly.
Procedure
- From the Windows Start menu, run the regedit application.
- In the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters directory, create a new DWORD value namedMaxUserPort.
- Set the properties for MaxUserPort to use a value of 65534 and a base of Decimal.
The range for value is from 30000 to 65534.
- In the same directory, add another DWORD value named TcpTimedWaitDelay.
- Set the properties for TcpTimedWaitDelay to use a value of 50 and a base of Decimal.
The range for value is from 30 seconds to 300 seconds, with a default value of 240 seconds (4 minutes).
- After closing the regedit application, restart the Microsoft CRM server or restart your computer.
